The summer was off to a slow start weather wise. It would not stop raining and I was DYING to get out and go camping. We had to cancel our first camping trip of the year because it was still snowing in the canyons! I have never had spring fever this bad! The first weekend of June we planned to go camping with some friends to Yuba State Park. We had never been to Yuba lake, technically a reservoir, and we were all READY for some sunshine. Unfortunately, it decided to rain that weekend as well. The good news is that it didn't rain long or hard enough for it to deter us from camping for the weekend & gave us beautiful rainbows! Always a plus for photos.

Yuba State Park was the perfect place to kick-off the summer season. Nothing says summer more than jumping in some cold water to cool off and hanging on a beach. We just bought our new Marmot tent and a new paddleboard. It was a popping tags trip and it felt so good! We had our Coleman tent for 11 years and were blown away by the upgrades in technology. Why did we wait so long?!
To be successful at beach camping you need to either have a portable picnic table or be prepared to cook in the trunk of your car, which is exactly what we did. We brought a small enough stove that it didn't take up much room and I planned meals that could easily be cooked in one day and assembled throughout the weekend. I made egg sandwiches for breakfast and BLT's for lunch. Dinner we utilize a campfire and will make "hobo dinners" or cook vegetables with a fine brie in a cast iron pan. Is it boujee? Yes, but both are delicious and I crave them! Maybe this was another contributing factor to my spring fever...it is always food motivated.

Yuba State Park Camping is very primitive, but if you are prepared and bring the right supplies it is easy going and hassle-free in many ways. The only downside is that it costs $25 a night on the North and West beaches. This is a trend I have been noticing each year...camping spots are getting more expensive. All in all, Yuba State Park is a great place for all kinds of water sports and great beach camping. You can wakeboard, paddleboard, and kayak with ease. Camping on the West beach was great there was plenty of room and a beautiful view of the reservoir. I have to mention that I am in-love with my new paddleboard, the Oasis Body Glove for Yoga & Fitness. The colors are adorable and it is perfect for cruising around or trying my hand at some SUP Yoga. It is my new best friend! I am also stoked with Wanderatic. They have the cutest t-shirts for wanderlusters and wilderness lovers. One of the best parts is that a portion of all sales is donated to wildlife preservation. If you would like 15% off on your purchase use my code: "Beemiller"!
