Ketchum...a place I never thought I would visit. But I am so glad I did. It is a great weekend getaway and hosts an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. I still was walking in a boot with a broken ankle so we were limited to hiking on paved roads, or the bike trail. But I was so excited to be out and about I wasn't going to let that stop me.

I went down with my friend Hannah and her family. They had booked a few rooms for a quick getaway and had an extra bed, I was a bit pooped from my trip to Ireland, but how could I not take advantage of another getaway?! We stayed at the Limelight Hotel. It was a brand new hotel and so beautiful. Great food and they even offered bikes as a rental. If my foot had been a bit stronger I would have been all over this. There were trails every which way right behind the hotel and how can you beat that view?

It is such a cute town to walk around and filled with great food and fun bars to have a drink at at night. The first night we ate at Warfield Distillery & Brewery. The food was great and their in-house gin was so delicious I bought a bottle to take home with me. The next night we ate at Vintage, which is a fancier option. The food was so good and it was styled as a cabin which was perfect for this mountain town.

Ketchum is also right below Sun Valley, you drive up the canyon 20 minutes and can explore the resort and shops. We had a great time looking at all of the fun shops filled with toys and candy. This is an expensive getaway but beautiful and I am sure you can find campgrounds in the area. The weather was great a little cold at night, but we were there the end of May and during the day it was perfect.

What You Want to Know

Take Me There!

Ketchum is about a 5-hour drive from Salt Lake City, Utah.

How long is the hike?

There are hikes all over and can be done at any length. I don't have specific suggestions because of my broken foot dilemma, but they are all over!

What Do I Wear?!

The nights were much colder than the days, but I got way with jeans and a tank top the majority of the time in May.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are allowed at the Limelight Hotel and on most of the trails.
