Bryce Canyon National Park is the most underrated park in Utah. The hoodoos are uncommonly beautiful and they stretch as far as the eye can see. We decided to do this park as a pit-stop on the way to St. George, which adds a little extra time to your trip, but it is totally worth it. Since we did this as a pit stop we decided to do the Queen's Garden Trail. This takes you down into the canyon and you can keep hiking until you are ready to turn-around and head back.
I think this is the best way to get down into the canyon if you are in a hurry. We were able to experience what Bryce Canyon has to offer and not feel like we got jipped.
We were there in March and there was still a little bit of snow here and there. It was windy and cold when we first started hiking, but once we got our blood flowing I was able to hike in a tank top and be comfortable.
What You Want to Know
Take Me There!
Bryce Canyon National Park is about a 4-hour drive from Salt Lake City. It can easily be done in a day on the way to St. George or Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
How long is the hike?
Queen's Garden Trail is a 1.8 mile out and back trail. It isn't very long but gives you great exposure to the hoodoos.
What Do I Wear?!
Layers. Springtime in the desert can be a little unpredictable. I liked having a light jacket when the wind picked up, but also having a tank top to soak up the sun whenever it felt warm! I wore my Anhu Montara hiking boots and felt great in them.
Can I bring my dog?
No. Dogs are not permitted on the trails.
